  1. Rape is rampant in every war. It’s just not patriotic to point it out. There are some oral histories — such as BLOODS — that touch on the rape, assault, and torture of Vietnamese prisoners of both sexes. I’m hesitant to recommend reading them, though, because there’s stuff I wish I hadn’t read that I can’t forget.

    1. Thank you for the information and advisory, I’ll probably read it. I’ve had jobs that exposed me to some of the basest kind of human conduct, so I’m a bit desensitized… though I can relate to your comment.

      I try not to imagine the horrifying feeling one must get when your town is invaded by an unrestrained military force. shudder
