I’ve been browsing the subreddit today, and a user named Genghis-Brah linked an article and related study about the racial dating habits and preferences that blew me away. I think it substantiates my running theme and theory – that most racist acts occur as the result of automatic bias, that is, unexamined thought. I am working on that article and I will post it soon.
In the meantime, I’m asking BAP Blog readers to check that subreddit out. I haven’t logged much time there yet, but from what I can see so far, it looks like a solid resource for information, discussion, and community building. If it is, ask to join and contribute.
I am simultaneously asking the reddit.com community – of any demographic – to consider writing a guest post for BAP Blog relating to Asian identity in any form. Asian men are doubly encouraged.
It needn’t be a sociological study. It can be a personal story, observation, or something that’s been bugging you. I don’t exercise much editorial oversight (any derogatory, bigoted, or hate speech will not be posted as such). You may write anonymously (by pseudonym) or under your own name. If you have a unique perspective or experience, let’s do an interview.
I am really hoping this happens because I am fed up with seeing disconnected islands of people who think their experience is not important to tell.
I can be reached at these email addresses and I answer email within one or two days and all email within a week.
